NEWSFLASH: QuickBooks has 2 views – Accountant and Business!

When our bookkeepers review financial information with clients in QuickBooks Online (QBO), they are often asked “Why can’t I see what you are seeing?”

To briefly explain, Intuit created a “Business View” to help business owners navigate the QBO software quickly and easily for business-related tasks.

The “Accountant View”, on the other hand, organizes information for financial experts to locate necessary information and relevant tools more efficiently for their financial tasks. If your bookkeeper is logged into your account in “Accountant Mode”, what they see will be drastically different than what you expect them to. They can still see what you are viewing but they also see more. When discussing your finances with them though, it’s important for you both to be on the same page!

If you are having trouble finding items while looking up instructions online or when talking with your accountant, check to see which of the 2 views you are in.  Here are a few easy steps to do that:

  1. Click on the gear icon in upper right-hand corner.
  2. Look at the bottom right corner of the pop-up box.
  3. If you see “Switch to Business view”, the Accountant view is actively in use.
  4. If you see “Switch to Accountant view”, the Business view is active.

We hope this helps but, as always, if you have any questions, please reach out to our bookkeeping team and a member of the team will be glad to assist you!
